The Basic Paradiddles
This booklet contains the basic paradiddle vocabulary. The next books in this series will explore ways to incorporate this vocabulary around the drum set.
My name is Wally Schnalle and I love paradiddles. Here I would love to share with you the many possibilities of how these rhythmic wonders can expand your playing. They contain 3 of the most used basic elements of drumming: the single, the double and the accent (the other two are flams and buzzes which can also be incorporated into the paradiddle at times). I’ve taught drums for decades. I have 10 recordings out as a leader featuring all original compositions. For years I was a columnist at DRUM! Magazine. I am the director of San Jose Jazz Summer Jazz Camp. I also teach at California State University East Bay. I endorse Pearl Drums, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and Earthworks microphones. Let’s explore the paradiddle possibilities!!
You'll get 28 hand patterns incorporating the most basic elements of drumming: the single, the double and the accent. Practice these on pad and we'll expose all the possibilities on the drum set in the next booklet in this series
